Private Chat Without an Account
Create a temporary text chat room instantly. No registration, no apps to install, and no durable message history.
When you need to exchange highly sensitive information, standard chat applications like Slack, Microsoft Teams, or standard SMS are often insufficient because they retain chat histories indefinitely. A temporary private chat room provides a dedicated, short-lived space to communicate securely without leaving a permanent trail.
Practical Scenarios
- Sharing short-lived debugging details: Exchange production tokens, IP addresses, or configuration strings with a colleague during an incident response.
- A quick private conversation: Have a candid discussion with a client or contractor without bringing them into your company's internal communication tools.
- Exchanging sensitive text: Share payment details or confidential credentials securely.
How to Create and Share a Hush Private Room
- Navigate to the Private Rooms page.
- Click the button to create a new room. This instantly generates a unique, end-to-end encrypted room link.
- Share the generated link with the other person using an Out-of-Band (OOB) channel, such as an email or a secure direct message.
- Once they open the link, they will join the room and you can begin your private chat without signup.
Security Boundaries & Limitations
Hush is designed for transparency. Before starting an encrypted temporary chat, you must understand exactly what this tool provides and its honest limitations:
- Exactly two participants: The room only supports you and one other person.
- Both must be online: There is no message queuing or offline delivery.
- Text only: No media or file attachments are supported.
- 15-minute expiry: Rooms self-destruct automatically 15 minutes after creation.
- No durable history: Refreshing your browser immediately clears the local chat history.
- Not identity verification: Possession of a room link is not proof of identity. Anyone with the link can join if the second slot is open. You must verify who you are talking to.
- No absolute security: We do not claim this is an anonymous, untraceable, or zero-retention service.
- External Threats: Screenshots and compromised endpoint devices (malware) are strictly outside of Hush's control.
